About This Place

Perched on the 18th floor at 485 7th Avenue, Magic Hour Rooftop Bar & Lounge is a dazzling oasis in the heart of New York City that masterfully blends a lively lounge atmosphere with a thoughtfully curated dining experience. This rooftop hotspot is part of the Moxy Hotel and offers guests more than just spectacular skyline views — it delivers an immersive feast for the senses.

The culinary vibe here is as vibrant and eclectic as its stunning décor. The menu is a playful mix of elevated comfort food and creative cocktails, perfectly suited for sharing and savoring alongside friends or a special someone. From mouthwatering crispy chicken sandwiches and juicy hamburgers to the addictive tang of shrimp tacos, each dish bursts with flavor and fresh ingredients. For those with a sweet tooth, the “Sparkly Snow Powder Donuts” are an enchanting treat — apple cider donuts dusted with powdered sugar and edible glitter that make for a whimsical indulgence.

Brunch at Magic Hour is nothing short of captivating. Start your meal with pastries like the buttery croissant or the tart cherry scone, then move on to elegant first courses such as the creamy country toast topped with avocado, farm egg, and ricotta. Sweet lovers can’t resist “The Frosted Cupcake,” a decadent chocolate-filled delight crowned with eggnog frosting — it’s the perfect balance of festive and sophisticated. And the cocktail selection dazzles just as much, with inventive concoctions like the famed cocktail bouquet that promises both a visual spectacle and a taste adventure.

But what truly sets Magic Hour apart is the ambiance. Imagine stepping into a rooftop garden kissed with twinkling lights and centered around a breathtaking carousel adorned with flowers — customers like Kasia Marnik describe it as “absolutely magical.” The spacious layout offers multiple cozy photo spots, making it a favorite for celebratory gatherings or a chic brunch with friends. The vibe is lively yet relaxed, with curated music and a sweeping view of the Empire State Building that elevates every moment.

Many patrons praise the attentive and personable staff, especially the likes of servers Kayla and Mariana, who go above and beyond to ensure a memorable experience. Whether it’s helping capture perfect photos or guiding you through the menu’s best picks, their warm hospitality leaves a lasting impression. While a few have noted brief dips in service speed during busy times, the friendly attitude and genuine care from the team always shine through.

Magic Hour Rooftop Bar & Lounge is also refreshingly kid-friendly during brunch hours, a rare find among NYC rooftops, which makes it an inviting spot for families looking to combine fantastic food with welcoming vibes. Staying at the connected Moxy Hotel adds a convenient layer, allowing guests to effortlessly indulge in this elevated oasis without the hassle of city driving.

Magic Hour Rooftop is truly one of a kind! Such a beautiful spot with a stunning carousel decorated with flowers – it feels absolutely magical. The drinks are just wow, and I definitely recommend trying the cocktail bouquet, especially the biggest one – it’s an experience in itself. The food is very good, though the portions are on the smaller side, which is fine for this type of place. What I really love is how the vibe changes depending on where you sit: on one side it feels more like a lively lunch party with a DJ, and on the other side it’s romantic with a more intimate atmosphere. The DJ playing during my last visit was fantastic and really added to the night (@djkizzy) I’ve been here several times already, and everyone I’ve ever brought absolutely loved it. I’ll definitely keep coming back – highly recommend!

Oh my goodness, this is a gem! The service, atmosphere, music, and food was amazing! When we are back in New York, we will visit again! Go see Kayla, she was our server and was so pleasant. She helped us out by taking many pictures for us. You have a beautiful view of the Empire State Building.

I understand why this place is one of the best rooftops in NYC. I was so impressed with the decor & the atmosphere the vibes were definitely it. Loved how they had places where you could take photos. Could see this being a spot that you definitely go to for brunch with the girls to take them pics. The service was a little off, there was a period of time where our waitress had disappeared and we couldn’t get a few things that we needed. When we had booked this reservation we were excited to get a full experience cause we have stayed at the Moxy for a decade but never have been up to the rooftop for brunch . So once we sat down I knew I wanted to get the pancakes for sure . We were torn between the Crème brûlée french toast or the cotton candy pancakes. I am more of a pancake person than French toast. Once we got the pancakes , I realized that with the cotton candy alone was very very sweet. But on top of that the pancakes themselves were super dry, so I wasn’t impressed. Even after I had tried them several ways to see if one was better than the other, with just the cotton candy alone & syrup. One with the apples & syrup & one with the blueberries with syrup. No matter what I got super dry. My husband had with the the banana foster & enjoyed it. The eggs, bacon, home fries and salad was the plate I enjoyed the most! I will give that you definitely are paying for just the atmosphere. I would definitely go again and try a few other things before completely saying if I’d go back again or not. The music also was definitely created by millennials! All the songs were hitting.

Our expectation was less looking at the other reviews but to our surprise this spot was cool and had the vibe. Brunch is kids friendly which was great. During our last trip we booked another roof top & came to know not all places are allowed for kids. Staffs were nice inspite of their busyness. Heard this Magic Hour rooftop is part of Moxy hotel. Hence to skip the driving booked a room there for 2 days but didn’t realise there were different Moxy hotels in NYC. Had to drive and pay for parking separately. Wasn’t over crowded since it was afternoon hour. My kid enjoyed & so did we!

I had the opportunity to visit the rooftop and I thought it was too beautiful and pleasant a place, beautiful to take pictures and spend a pleasant time with friends or as a couple, I was attended by the waitress Mariana, she was very nice, friendly and charismatic, her attention made the experience too pleasant, she explained the whole menu to me and made me several recommendations, thanks to her recommendation I tried the martini espresso and the Moira rose, thank you Mariana your attention was incredible, I loved the Moira rose! I loved the place and the attention. I want to come back for the summer!
